In 1992 Pioneer Electronics introduced a commercial recording system for LaserDiscs. The vdr-v1000 LaserDisc Recorder was priced at $39,950 and the RLV (Recordable LaserVision Disc) was $1295 each.  The RLV LaserDisc was developed by the Optical Disc Corporation now named ODC Nimbus in 1984.
